Makeup Obsession UK

After watching Zoella for many years, I was excited when she announced that she had created a makeup collaboration with Colourpop. I purchased 3 products from the collab; the brunch date eyeshadow palette, ultra matte lip in little one and ultra matte lip in @ me.

The brunch date eyeshadow palette looked very neutral and wearable for every day (aside from the bright blue). I only wear warm neutral shades on my eyes so this looked like a perfect 'me' palette. There were three ultra matte liquid lipsticks in the collab (2 nudes and a bright red) as I only wear neural lipsticks the shades 'little one' and '@ me' really appealed to me. I prefer a liquid lipstick formula; I was really excited to try these as I'd heard some amazing things about their ultra matte lip formulas, and they lived up to my expectations.

Ultra Matte Lip

LINK - '@ ME'
$7.00
Little one: Dusty nude
@ me: Dusty pink mauve

My favourite of the two shades is @ me. The formula is very matte and has an intense colour pay off in one layer. It is transfer proof and lasts all day. I would really recommend the colourpop ultra matte lips.

SWATCHES

Overall, I am very impressed with this colourpop collection and after my experience with the products, I would repurchase from them in the future.

Top to Bottom, Left to Right; Plumful, Patisserie, Fast Play, Blankety, Mehr, Velvet Teddy, Honeylove, Really Me, Whirl, Modesty, Fanfare, Viva Glam II.
Different Formulas Explained...

Lustre - I have 2 of these in my collection (plumful, patisserie) they are fairly sheer but adds a nice hint of colour. They are glossy and moisturising; because of this, they don't last that long on the lips and need to be reapplied throughout the day.

Plumful [BLOSSOMING ROSE-PLUM]
Patisserie [SHEER CREAMY NEUTRAL PINK]

Amplified - I also have 2 of these in my collection (fast play, blankety) they give an opaque colour with a creamy finish. They feel moisturising on the lips and last throughout the day.

Fast Play [NEUTRAL PINK]
Blankety [SOFT PINK BEIGE]

Matte - These are my favourite MAC formulas; I have 5 of these (mehr, velvet teddy, honeylove, really me, whirl) they are the most long-lasting lipstick formula that MAC does, they last around 6 hours. They have a very opaque colour pay off and have a matte finish with no shimmer or glitter.

Mehr [DIRTY BLUE PINK]
Velvet Teddy [DEEP-TONE BEIGE]
Honeylove [LIGHT BEIGE TONED WITH ROSE]
Really Me [Discontinued]
Whirl [DIRTY ROSE]

Cremesheen - I have 2 of these formulas (modesty, fanfare) they are similar to the lustre formula but cremesheens have a better colour pay off and are creamy and hydrating; because of this, they don't last as long on the lips so they would need to be reapplied throughout the day.

Modesty [MUTED NEUTRAL PINK]
Fanfare[MID-TONE YELLOW PINK]

Satin - I also have 2 of these formulas (viva glam II, twig) they have a semi-matte finish and are less drying on the lips than a matte lipstick. They have good colour pay off and last well on the lips.

Viva Glam II [CREAMY SUBDUED PINKISH-BEIGE MAUVE]
Twig (Mini)[SOFT MUTED BROWNISH-PINK]

MAC Lipsticks cost £17.50

Currently, I am using the Morphe complexion blending beauty sponge
LINK
I wash my beauty sponge every time before I’m going to use it. I use a bar of soap (any brand) and I rub my sponge over the bar of soap in different directions to get soap on every part of the sponge. Once the sponge is covered in soap, I then squeeze and move the sponge between my hands under running water to get the makeup out of it, I repeat these steps until the water runs clear out of the sponge. Then you have to make sure all of the soap is out of the sponge, to do this I just squeeze the sponge under running water and repeat this until the soap bubbles have gone.

The next step is one I’ve started doing recently - I use hair conditioner (any brand) to make the sponge soft. I massage the conditioner into the sponge and then run it under warm water to rinse the conditioner out. I’ve found that using this step makes my makeup apply a lot better. It doesn’t take any makeup off your face when blending in liquid products on the face.

I've had this primer since March, whenever I tried to purchase it, it was always out of stock.

The primer costs £8.00, I purchased mine from Superdrug after being on the 'notify when back in stock' list for a while.
LINK
With this primer, you don't need to use much of the product; a lot goes a long way. I usually only apply the primer in my T-zone (forehead, nose and chin), and on my cheeks over my pores. You should get a small amount out the container and rub it between your fingers before applying to the face so the product warms up and applies easier to the skin. The primer is hydrating on the skin and helps to grip makeup as it has Squalane in. The primer gives a smoothing poreless finish to the skin.

I usually apply moisturiser before applying primer but if you have oily skin I would recommend going straight in with the primer. You should allow 30 seconds for the primer to soak into the skin before applying makeup.
As well as giving the skin a poreless finish, the primer helps makeup to stay on all day.

I would recommend this primer as it's only £8.00 and it works really well to minimise the appearance of pores, it gives the skin a blurred perfected appearance, and it helps to keep your makeup on all day.

The theme of June's glossy box was summer soiree - "we've filled our iconic pink box with all the essential beauty products you need to get ready for whatever occasions lie ahead this summer" - GLOSSYBOX

How much is a Glossybox subscription?

A new addition to the Glossybox subscription service is the 12-month contract which makes it cheaper per month! I pay £8.50 for the box and £3.25 for postage and packaging (£11.75). Every month they deliver 5 beauty products worth over £50.

What was in this months box?

Avant Skincare Pro Perfecting Collagen Touche Eclat Primer - Worth £85.00

"Silky, lightweight and universal, this high-end primer mattifies and softens your complexion, while also reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Apply a pea-sized amount to the centre of your face and blend outwards. It will perfectly prep your skin for flawless makeup application and help your look last even longer!"

I've only tried this primer a handful of times and when applied it's very smooth and silky, it helps your makeup to apply very smoothly and looks amazing on the skin. I personally would not repurchase this product as it is £85, and there are high street primers that work just as well.

Meech N Mia Eyeshadow Chubby Stick - Worth £12.99

"This highly-pigmented, gold eyeshadow pencil will help you create the perfect eye look for your special occasion. Use it alone to create a bold look (the colour pay-off is amazing!), or blend it with loose and pressed eyeshadow for a softer finish. Its rich and creamy formula applies effortlessly."

After opening this product and swatching it on my hand; I was disappointed at the colour pay off, it's not very pigmented even though the description states that it is. its a very pale gold colour so for me, I would only use it as a highlight colour on the inner corner of my eyes. I don't think this product is worth £12.99 and I wouldn't repurchase it.

ModelCo Lip Creme Matte Peachy Nude - Worth £15.00

"This luscious lip crème boasts a Peachy Nude hue that perfectly finishes off every going out look. Its long-lasting and highly-pigmented formula will instantly give you a rich, matte coverage. Simply sweep it across your lips and allow it to dry for 60 seconds."

I was very excited when I saw that this was in my Glossybox. Liquid lipsticks are my favourite lip product, the colour is a peachy pink colour and would be a good colour to wear throughout the summer. The formula lasts on your lips and it's not drying.

Sleek Face Form Palette Fair - Worth £9.99

"A three-in-one bronzer, highlighter and blush palette, this makeup kit is a must-have! Start by sculpting your cheekbones using the matte bronzing powder, then apply the blush to give your cheeks a rosy flush, before blending and softening the look with a sweep of highlighter."
I was excited about this product as I've used sleek products before and they've been very good quality. I received the fair one as I have set my preferences in my Glossybox profile that I have fair skin.

Hask Deep Conditioner Monoi Coconut Oil - Worth £2.49

"Infused with a range of essential oils, including Kalahari, coconut and citrus oil, they replenish, nourish and purify your tresses. Massage the mask into your locks, leave it in for 10 minutes and rinse."
I received the blue coconut oil. I haven't used it yet but as I set on my profile I have dry hair, they accommodated to that and sent me a moisturising product.

1. Fenty beauty - PRO FILT'R Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

The Fenty pro filt’r foundation by Rihanna has a medium to full coverage finish, it has a soft matte finish and doesn’t need to be set as it sets by itself (unless you have very oily skin). The Fenty foundation leaves a nice finish on the skin and isn’t cakey and doesn’t look too matte. It has a high medium to low full coverage appearance but still looks skin like. I use shade 140, they have an extensive shade range of 50 shades so there's a colour and undertone for everyone. They have shades for light skin, medium skin, tan skin and deep skin. Each different range has options for cool, neutral and warm undertones. The foundation has 32ml of product.

2. Loreal Paris – Infallible Pro Glow Longwear Foundation

The loreal pro glow foundation is mainly sold in America, it’s not sold in U.K stores. However, my family brought it for me when they went on a trip to New York after I had seen some amazing reviews on YouTube. It is available in the U.K on Amazon. The foundation has a very skin like medium coverage and it's very glowy (as the name would suggest), the foundation wouldn’t be suitable for people with oily skin unless it was set very well. It is suitable for normal to dry skin in need of hydration. A downside of this foundation is that it is only available in 12 shades, which is not a very extensive shade range. I use shade 201 which is the lightest shade available.

3. P.S – My Perfect Colour Double Coverage Matte Foundation

The double coverage matte foundation is a 'dupe' for the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, it has an amazing full coverage appearance. One of the most amazing features of this foundation is the cost – it retails at £5!. The foundation has SPF 15 and has 32ml of product. As the foundation is matte you don’t need to wear much powder, it would be more suitable for oily skin as it does have a matte finish.

£5.00
Can only be purchased in Primark stores
4. Nars – Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation

The Nars natural radiant longwear foundation has a medium coverage with a soft glowy finish, it has a lightweight formula so you can’t feel it on your skin, but it still has amazing coverage. The range has 33 shades with a range of different undertones to match everyone, the product contains 30ml of product. I use shade Mont Blanc (Light 2).

5. Revolution – Fast Base Stick Foundation

This foundation is a stick foundation; it has high medium coverage and is very easy to apply as you can just swipe the product over your face. The foundation melts into your skin and leaves a dewy finish. The range has 18 shades and can easily be used as a contour stick and a highlight stick. You don’t need too much of this product as a little goes a long way. I use the shade F1. The product contains 6.2g.
